shuttered windows outside only serves to emphasis the warmth and inviting cosiness
within. A small cupboard to the northeast looks like the only exit apart from the main
doorway to the east. A cheerful fire is burning in the fireplace.

'97 or early '98".

Duke Nukem 3d ... and I chanced to look at the free games on offer".

rightly ... at least my teacher at the time thought so anyway".

up in the stories I wrote when I was little".

propensity for using trickery to create apes".

takes a little more effort now anyway".

mechanics of the game in this way?".
Apeomancer the surrealist hero says "I've always enjoyed that aspect of games
generally".
Apeomancer the surrealist hero says "But in MUD it took me a long while to actually
learn what's considered common knowledge now".
Apeomancer the surrealist hero says "I don't think I actually became a full-time
explorer until I pointed out a few things I'd noticed to a wiz called Maelstrom and he
encouraged me to get into it".
Apeomancer the surrealist hero says "But when I did get into it, I got into it very
heavily".
Apeomancer the surrealist hero says "It's hard to compare explorers, because what they
do isn't really quantifiable and gets harder as time goes on".
Apeomancer the surrealist hero says "I'd be quite interested to know how I am at
it next to some of the explorers from the past - I think it was Lexley who was supposed
to be very good".
(Karya the melancholy witch) asks "at some point do you see yourself stopping the
exploring and changing direction, to possibly wiz?".
Apeomancer the surrealist hero says "Hmmm, I can't really see myself ever
wizzing".
Apeomancer the surrealist hero says "I'm just not very good at achieving or
killing, not very good at all".

up in the execution of it".

I could ever be a Dclxvi - style acheiver".

about getting to the items you need".

compare oneself to someone else".

suited to achieving".

the levels anyway ... the only things I miss are the highlife spells".

lower levels anyway".

but I don't think I'd be very good at keeping the peace in the land".

explorers from this incarnation, have you ever compared notes with him?".

the designers actually intended".

seem terribly well suited to explorer play".

I think they're quite explorer friendly?".
Apeomancer the surrealist hero says "They're not really well maintained enough
for trick-hunting, or they're stats-obsessed and more like an RPG than an adventure
game".
Apeomancer the surrealist hero says "Nope, never tried them - I didn't realise
they were still around".
Apeomancer the surrealist hero says "That would be more my sort of thing".
Apeomancer remembers the time he managed to get Wdi limboed for doing nothing at all.

about - tearoom sleeping".

done with the litter word, which wasn't covered".

set, and got a bit confused over whether it was 'legal' or not".

thought I could use it as much as I liked".

him for it".
Apeomancer the surrealist hero says "Then cat appeared and limboed us, assuming
we were partners in crime".

probably the most complex trick I've worked out though".

Apeomancer the surrealist hero says "I like the feeling of exploring something
new, rather than just the same old things".
(Karya the melancholy witch) asks "What is the most enjoyable quest for you that you've
explored?".

Apeomancer the surrealist hero says "And they tend to be designed to be a greater
challenge to exploratory characters as well, 'cos the puzzles are made to be solved
rather than snooped or chatted up".

Agrazag's elemental quest".

and Cat's Rune Quest are also good fun from what I remember".

is good fun too".
